Advice may be good one month or year but not the next

Just because there’s a perfect ratio of nutrients in something one time, it may not remain the same. Your body’s preferences, as well as nature and the composition of things change over time. You can either use your gut feel for things, taste buds, and for nutrients – better yet, a blood test works wonders to identify new changes and potential issues.

Cleaner Fast food burgers

In the past I would have shot towards a Culver’s burger on the rare occasion I desired a heavier burger, as they tout family farmed beef (and it sits right with me to know the animals have more pleasing living conditions). The family farm aspect is great, yet it is really greasy. If that’s your thing, great, but seeing the Hardee’s all-natural brurger come out, it’s a step up in the right direction 🙂

So… this past week I tried one in a lettuce wrap, without msg condiments, or processed cheese. ‘Was very pleased. Barely greasy at all, and went down good, and is digesting great. That afternoon I was very alert too!

Hope this helps folks who are looking to partake in fast food every so often, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Wake up feeling refreshed!

Life is supposed to be this way!!

You should also feel large amounts of joy too! If you don’t, just bounce out of bed and start the day anyway.

As long as things aren’t terrible in your life, you deserve to feel this way. If you don’t, you’re either low on sleep water, human touch, nature/calm, accomplishment, friends, community, etc.

Just have fun and don’t overeat (or over-task) anything over time whether that’s heavier foods such as cheese, meat, or even healthy clean calories such as nuts or beans.

What time of day to start eat or stop eating?

Well, it depends on what works best for your body, schedule, and your desires. Ultimately, it really doesn’t matter. There’s no need to stick a rigid schedule – unless that something you haven’t tried; that might work really well for you actually. Try it out!

What time of day to stop? Generally most experts say it’s OK to eat before bed, and in my opinion I do agree, it’s what helped with my weight loss and maintenance.

Now if you are going to eat late at night, make sure you really need the calories and then that you do eat light in the morning or fast a bit. It will make things so much easier on the body 🙂

Just listen to your body.. Well, it’s more difficult than “just” at first, but that’s how I gotta say it for now 😉

EDIT: Listen to the physical results if you can’t listen to your body in the beginning 😀

Taking things as gospel

These last couple years, I’ve gone through a period of having my mind think everything I heard was complete truth and must be followed 100%. Well, that’s a life of strife and not something I wish to continue doing.

Most things or advice in life can be taken with modification, or saved for the perfect moment when needed. Sometimes advice from well-meaning people isn’t actually for you, it’s for them.

But please take the upmost care and responsibility when ignoring and heeding the advice of others. Some of the time it’s pertinent to follow a suggestion, as long as you sense it’s from your/the higher power.

Bless your food, and deeply enjoy

If you’re having a healthy meal, give thanks for it. If you’re having a “treat” or possibly viewed as unhealthy, still bless it, and wish it to best provide nourishment for your body.  Not that you can get away with everything, but still having gratitude for the experience and not having any alarming thoughts about eating something “bad” for your body or something like that.

You deserve the best!

Focus on Whole Food/Cleaning eating, but always have choice

Hi all. I again wanted to share with you the message of why I made this blog/site. Healthy eating should always be about choice and happiness. If you want to eat something borderline unhealthy for you, mull it over and if you still do truly want that, go for it, and get your satisfaction, but know your limits too, right? 🙂

How I succeeded in my weight loss was always holding the full belief tat I can most definitely eat whatever I want, I just choose not to do it.

Examples of when I’ve fulfilled a craving in a happy way are when: I’d had multiple servings of blue corn chips (mmm), having 4 bananas for a small meal, or having a decent amount of meat.

<Rambling>I’m a recovering vegetarian some moments, I do feel most comfortable when it’s humanely raised meat though. Plus, I can also still respect the aspects of vegetarianism and not killing, but that’s changed for me. These days I’m a deer hunter too, and I send a blessing to the deer before and after I shoot. I don’t mean it harm, yet just doing it as a sustainable eating practice mainly.</Rambling>

Ok, enough of the rambling, but you know what I was getting at with this post, right? It’s your choice in life to eat certain ways and also do your best not to overnourish either (because it’s when we give the body the right amount of food and life experiences that it can truly thrive).

Until next time!

Obsession with diet and over-controlling

Fyi: This post is more of a personal reflection, reminders to myself, but you may happen to find some value in it.

On the topic of controlling food, I’ve again noticed this in myself, something that those close to me have probably seen for years but stayed quiet because I was so pleased with the choice for a few years. It still is a big part of who I AM and allows me to accomplish more in life (that includes more time for relaxation too) without spending my efforts on too much digestion (ie: eating 3500 calories when 2400 would do).

Recently I over prepared for meals during an IT programming conference I went to. I realized this as I discovered the specialty line further into the week and noticed more clean options. I didn’t see it for 2 days for some reason (I failed to trust that the universe will present enough clean options to me and be able to go with the flow in a few moments during the first day and second to last day), and I even I forgot about the specialty options at times. I would say I “don’t know why”, but it was fear of being myself or that I wouldn’t learn as much if I wasn’t stuffed to the brim, which is the opposite actually. When we’re over nourished in our bodies, we sometimes can’t even stay awake, and that’s obviously not good.

Again, once I found the specialty line, it was so much better and the oatmeal, quinoa, cut up fruit was excellent as well. I feel like I can do better next time – not over prepare, and also not overeat so much standard food, and default back to my snacks I brought.

Is bringing your own food tough? It depends on your perspective 🙂 I gotta say, it was freeing (and at the same time, messy) eating delicious mangoes for one of the meals, where ever I found a peaceful spot for myself, that’s all.

To me, a habit of clean eating isn’t that crazy (but orthorexia or over planning is definitely undesirable if it limits your fun for too long). When having a busy life, eat ahead of time when needed and also just prepare QUICK snacks for backup. Hard boiled eggs aren’t quick snacks (*hits forehead*) – pre peel them.

In closing though, if I don’t moderate or limit my food choices and quality for most weeks out of the year, I start going towards unhealthy living and gaining excess body fat, which isn’t desirable, unless there’s a famine, heh.

Healthiest way to cook an egg?

Here’s a pretty good, old-and-still-standing article from Mercola about eggs and cholesterol as well – yes, they can be very good, but watch out for later on about the perfect way to cook an egg. I like Mercola for the most part, but also enjoy scrambled eggs.

Now.. Maybe it’s good for some people. If you’re not in love with scrambled eggs, then switch it up. But it’s not good for myself – I don’t overcook my eggs when I scramble them, which is good, because overcooking would oxidize the cholesterol.

Just look at what might happen or the differences in meals:

One egg sunny wide up fried in 2T butter with 2 pieces of white bread
Versus..
3 eggs scrambled with 1T butter or 1T Coconut oil.

What seems healthier?
It’s all about balancing your personal preferences against things that may be harder for the body to assimilate.

In Summary: Eat what you like, and in doing so, feel and know that it satiated your body and you want to now enjoy non-food things 🙂 If you’re still craving, then get rid of some or all of the refined bread or convert to whole wheat.
